Stop thief: how to avoid a 'dip.'(prevention and protection against theft while traveling; includes related notes)

Article Abstract:

There are methods of thieving that are characteristic of some countries that export them along with thieves. Muggings are common in Barcelona and Madrid, Spain, while street vendors may seek to distract travelers in Turkey, so that they can be robbed. Theft is becoming an increasing problem in Italy. Travelers should take out insurance, and can use hotel safes to store their valuables. Security bags also offer some protection, and waterproof versions are available.

It is possible to purchase a house that has obvious signs of subsidence relatively cheaply. However, it is important to be aware that there are significant risks associated with subsidence. It is vital to obtain a reliable survey and to ensure that insurance-related issues are properly tackled. It may be necessary to live in uncomfortable surroundings for some time, as extensive building work may be required. Dealing with serious subsidence may take several years.
