Strategists back France for top of the stocks

Article Abstract:

Analysts predict that continental European bourses will be the best markets in 1993. The US and the UK suffer from recession but economic pessimism is deeper in Europe, making the markets more attractive as they anticipate recovery. Strong economies in Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia will continue. German interest rates are expected to come down, otherwise devaluation of the French franc is likely. Italy, Brazil, the Philippines and Poland may have surprising markets in 1993.

'Angels' back the pint that sinks taxman

Article Abstract:

Support from six venture capitalists, or 'business angels,' has ensured a strong start for Great Stour Brewery, where people can brew their own beer very inexpensively. The operation raised more than 100,000 pounds sterling in seed capital within only two months of making its first presentation, and it is already considering a market quote and national expansion. It also has a shop and plans for a museum of brewing.

A falling market, bubbly and a Chinese burn

Article Abstract:

Investors in the stock market in 1994 found generally poor returns, and most would have made a larger profit if they had placed their money in a building society. Even pension and insurance fund managers made mistakes, with some making losses from gambling on the buoyant Chinese economy, for example. For 1995, analysts predict that the market will increasing concentrate on growth as the economic cycle matures.
