Take the vocational high road

Article Abstract:

Many first degree graduates are now carrying on to undertake further academic study or research, while others go into postgraduate vocational courses. Many employers now look for recruits with a higher degree, and European employers also tend to seek master's degrees from UK candidates, believing that a UK first degree is of a lower standard than a first degree from a European university, which takes longer to obtain. Recent research shows that higher degrees are likely to be in increasing demand.

With a little polish you can shine

Article Abstract:

There are about 120 independent tutorial colleges, known as crammers, which provide intensive courses for 'A' level subjects to improve students pass grades. This is often necessary to ensure a university place, particularly in the 1990's. Small groups of up to eight focus on exam technique. A different teacher can inject enthusiasm and improve pupils' performance by a grade. Revision classes go over past questions.
