The 2.75 million pounds sterling kiss off

Article Abstract:

Television presenter Vanessa Feltz was sacked by Anglia Television for demanding a salary increase to 2.75 million pounds sterling from 1.5 million pounds sterling and for seeking additional peak-time television appearances. Feltz's daytime talk shows attracted an audience of 1.3 million, but she over-estimated the value of daytime television to the advertising industry. Daytime television audiences are not perceived as high-spending consumers in the UK, with Feltz also over-estimating the value of British presenters in comparison with American presenters who reach a wealthier, wider audience.

Article Abstract:

German chancellor, Gerhard Schroder, is seeking to reduce the role of the state and introduce economic policies associated with the political right. Germany faces high unemployment and slow economic growth, and a reduction in government spending and employee entitlements is Schroder's cure for these ills. Both problems have to be tackled to make Germany competitive. Schroder faces opposition from within the Social Democrats due to concerns that the party's values could be eroded.
