The Army life for me?

Article Abstract:

The Army now represents a very wide range of professions and management roles. Since Apr 1998, 70% of Army vacancies have been available to women. The culture of the Army has changed considerably, and fewer officers now come from military families. Graduates considering entering the Army should take advice from an Army Careers Advisor. They must then apply to be sponsored by a specific regiment or corps, followed by a briefing with a Regular Commissions Board. After being accepted, training as an officer starts almost immediately.

Learning on the job

Article Abstract:

It has become increasingly common in the UK for students to take employment to finance their studies. Employers are beginning to regard this as a positive trend, recognizing that working through college can give potential recruits valuable commercial experience. Students who have worked through college tend to be more astute and business-minded than their contemporaries who have not done so. The National Union of Students supports the idea of students working, but wishes to ensure that employers do not exploit students.

Looking out for mother

Article Abstract:

Being unable to see properly can make you feel very frightened and isolated, according to Jill Taylor, who began to suffer retinitis pigmentosa as a child but was not properly diagnosed. She recalls feeling very relieved when she was finally diagnosed, and feels that she became closer to her children, who acted as her eyes. Her daughter Nichola Smith feels that her mother's blindness did not have a negative impact on her childhood. She never felt that helping her mother was a burden.
