The Open secret

Article Abstract:

The Open University Business School has become a very popular place to study for an MBA. This institution currently has around 4,500 MBA students from many different parts of the world, and many employers sponsor their employees to study there. Its teaching has been assessed as 'excellent' by the Higher Education Funding Council, and it is one of only 33 institutions which offer MBAs in the UK to have been accredited by the Association of MBAs. It uses a number of strategies to overcome the isolation which can sometimes be associated with distance learning.

Top men need training too

Article Abstract:

Senior executives need constant training to ensure that their skills and knowledge remain up to date. This is recognized by business schools, which are now offering follow-up courses for former students and short but intensive programmes for executives who do not have formal management qualifications. Henley business school, for example, has 13 'executive development programmes,' mainly between two and five days long, while London Business School is now beginning to offer sector-specific programmes.

Chile reception from UK firms

Article Abstract:

A project undertaken by a group of MBA students from Strathclyde Graduate Business School, Scotland, involved investigating the business opportunities for UK companies in Scotland. The students found it difficult to obtain sponsorship for this project, and gained the impression that most UK companies are not looking seriously enough at business opportunities in South America. However, the project offered them valuable experience in a number of areas, including management consultancy.
