The Right Rev Thomas Holland

Article Abstract:

Priest Thomas Holland was ordained in 1933. He won the gold medal in theology at the Gregorian University in Rome, Italy, in 1936 for his thesis on the action of the Holy Spirit in non-Catholic Churches. He volunteered as a chaplain to the Royal Navy during the second world war, and won the Distinguished Service Cross. He served on the staff of the Church Missionary Society between 1948 and 1956, and was Secretary to the Apostolic Delegate between 1956 and 1960. He served as Roman Catholic Bishop of Salford, England, between 1964 and 1983.
