Multimedia collective AudioRom, which gained an award for design at the 1998 British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards for Interactive Entertainment, has faced significant challenges. The company runs on a very limited budget, and its studio has no glamorous hi-tech equipment. It occasionally undertakes commercial work, but its main revenue sources are commissions and grants that support its titles, performances and installations. It won the design award for 'ShiftControl,' an interactive CD-rom that can be played like a CD or used interactively.

Article Abstract:

A number of spoof book reviews have been posted on the website of Internet bookseller Amazon. These reviews, which appear in Amazon's customer comments section, mock academic criticism or parody the light tone of some customer comments. Amazon appears to have decided to allow these reviews to continue to appear, possibly because they have generated positive publicity. Amazon is being seen as supporting free speech, thus reviving its reputation as a democratic community.
