The inquest into the death of Harold 'Errol' McGowan in Telford, England, in Jul 1999 has heard from his former employer about racial abuse suffered by McGowan. The jury has heard conflicting views about the circumstances in which McGowan's body was found.

Anger after Blunkett says refugees must carry ID cards

Refugee support groups have reacted angrily to UK Home Secretary David Blunkett's decision to oblige asylum-seekers to carry identity cards. The Home Office has denied that this scheme would later be expanded into a national identity card initiative.
