The loneliest children at Christmas

Article Abstract:

Life is extremely difficult for the thousands of children living in Albanian orphanages. They receive only the most basic care, and are not stimulated in any way. They spend many hours without adult contact, and rarely have the opportunity to play with toys. However, charity Hope and Homes for Children, set up in 1994, is seeking to improve their circumstances. It has been able to open a new home in Durres, Albania, with the assistance of 150,000 pounds sterling from the UK's Rotary Clubs. It is also hoping to reunite some of the children with their families or to have them adopted.

The ultimate good will

Article Abstract:

The widow and the mistress of Chelsea Football Club's late vice-chairman Matthew Harding have reached a reasonably amicable agreement about how to deal with his 200 million pounds sterling estate. His mistress and his daughter will receive around 25 million pounds sterling, while his wife will receive around 50 million pounds sterling. It is very unusual for an amicable agreement of this kind to be reached, even between members of the same family. The fact that this has been achieved may be the result of Harding's decision not to hide the fact that he had a mistress.
