The mouse that soared

Article Abstract:

Actress Leslie Caron believes that she survived her early exposure to life in Hollywood because she was genuinely very innocent. She was able to distance herself from the glamour of life there, and did not feel that she had to be seen with famous people. She has been influenced by a considerable number of women, mainly French. Like French novelist George Sand, for example, she very much dislikes being subservient to a man, and this has led her to have a number of unsuccessful marriages.

The French miss

Article Abstract:

The French tend to take public figures such as actresses very much to their hearts, according to singer and actress Jane Birkin. This is not the case in the UK, where she is much less popular. She appears very regularly on French television, but has never really been able to convince British audiences of her talents. She is currently in the UK to publicise her greatest hits album and her forthcoming concert at the Festival Hall in Apr 1997.
