The mystery millionaire

Article Abstract:

Tahir Mohsan, founder of Time Computer Systems, the largest manufacturer and retailer of computers in the UK, remains extremely secretive. He will not allow photographs to be taken of him, and has never given an interview to a newspaper or computer magazine. The company operates from an industrial park in Simonstone, England, where it makes more than 2,000 computers a day. Sales in the financial year 1999 to 2000 are forecast to exceed 300 million pounds sterling. Mohsan has gained a reputation for being extremely focused and dedicated, but his appearance is very different from that of a successful businessman.

Can this man save Sainsbury's?

Sainsbury's Chief Executive Dino Adriano emphasizes that he is quite resilient to personal criticism. However, he is concerned about the impact of negative media coverage of Sainsbury's on staff morale and on customer perceptions. He states that he is determined to revive the company's performance, and that he does not plan to move on until he has done so, even though he is now 56.

Article Abstract:

Allan Leighton was responsible for the success of the Asda supermarket chain, selling it to the American Wal-Mart giant in 1999 for 6.2 billion pounds stirling. He has since resigned from his role of CEO of the European arm of the Asda-Wal-Mart group, and has collected a portfolio of chairman and directorship posts within a variety of industries.
