The riddle of Percy Island

Article Abstract:

Percy Island, one of the three islands forming the Northumberland Group discovered by Captain Cook in the early 18th century, is situated around 70 miles off Mackay, Australia. It is on the Great Barrier Reef, and is seven square miles in size. It is not easily accessible, so most tourists head for other islands on the Great Barrier Reef. The island has kangaroos, goats, cattle and sheep, and a wide range of insect and reptile life. Accommodation is extremely basic.

Land of the five-dollar pineapple

Article Abstract:

The island of Eleuthera, located around 25 minutes' flying time from Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, has pink and white sand beaches and large areas of pineapple plantations. There are few natural features, however, and the island has little wildlife. The island's main attraction is its beaches, located on both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic. Many of Eleuthera's buildings were damaged by Hurricane Andrew in 1992.
