The secret heart of the Sahara

However, the country is becoming more stable, and is keen to develop its economy be attracting tourists. Potential tourist destinations include the desert town of Faya, Chad, where there are some attractive buildings of rather Moorish appearance and nearby mountains and lakes. Across the treacherous sea of sand

Article Abstract:

China's Taklamakan Desert, through which the Silk Road runs, is beginning to attract larger numbers of foreign visitors. The city of Dunhuang, which is situated at one side of the desert, is already an established tourist centre, but other places are now becoming tourist attractions. These include Turpan, a town which has a warm climate and an almost Mediterranean atmosphere, and Kashgar, located deep in central Asia.

Between the desert and the deep blue sea

Article Abstract:

The city of Alexandria, Egypt, seems to bear few traces of its grand history. However, it is extremely attractive for its faded grandeur and atmosphere of nostalgia. Situated between the desert, verdure and sea, it has many attractions. These include the 15th century Qaytbay Fort, the catacombs and Pompey's Pillar. It is pleasant simply to wander through the city's decaying streets and to visit its tea shops.
