We need to get bin Laden, but alive and in the dock

Article Abstract:

The US administration has shown great maturity and restraint in not launching an immediate military attack on Afghanistan following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. It must also be recognized that Osama bin Laden, believed to be behind the attacks, must be captured alive and put on trial.

The shadow of terror: a darkness fell on 11 September. Have we the vision to defeat it?

Article Abstract:

A review of 2001 must be dominated by the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Centre. There are now fewer critics of US military action against Afghanistan, but there are strong practical reasons why there should not be wider military action against terrorism.

How can we stop Saddam and his weapons of hell?

Article Abstract:

Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein is well aware that the West is unwilling to use military force to ensure that he complies with United Nations weapons inspections. He has therefore abandoned any pretence of cooperation, anticipating that the West will be critical but will not go as far as taking military action. In particular, he realizes that there is no public will in the West for military action in the Gulf. It seems that UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and President Bill Clinton can do very little in the face of Saddam's defiance and determination.
