There's something about Samantha

Article Abstract:

Actress Samantha Morton finds it frustrating that she is regarded as too strong for some roles. She struggles to take away her strength, but she is able to do so if necessary. She tries to avoid too much contact with people who have been in acting for a long time, as she feels that such people have become very cynical, which has affected their creativity. She is determined not to take roles she does not feel comfortable with simply to earn money.

Re-educating Tilda

Article Abstract:

Women often feel that need to conform to stereotypes, according to actress Tilda Swinton. This is shown in her latest film, 'Female Perversions,' directed by Susan Streifeld. Based on the work of feminist theorist Louise J. Kaplan, it is a very disturbing film, dealing with issues including kleptomania and eating disorders. She is keen not to be stereotyped, and has moved into acting after having been involved in performance art.

What's love got to do with it?

Article Abstract:

Catherine Breillat's film 'Romance' should not be regarded as pornographic, according to actress Caroline Ducey, who plays a teacher who becomes involved in dangerous sexual adventures. She found it hard to deal with the impact of Breillat's personality and with the fact that she was not permitted to express her opinions during filming. She regrets the fact that the completed film is different from what she had anticipated.
