UK: BRITANNIC ANNUAL PREMIUMS RISE

Article Abstract:

UK Britannic, has announced that its annual premium equivalent increased to GB[pound] 71.9mn in 1999, an increase of 36%. New regular premiums went up by 27% to GB[pound] 51.9mn and total single premiums by 49% to GB[pound] 263.8mn. Brian Shaw, chief executive, said that the results 'demonstrate the continuing momentum of the business'.

UK: NORWICH UNION REVEALS NEW BUSINESS FIGURES

Norwich Union reported a 58% rise to GB[pound] 179mn in global annual premium profits for the opening three months of 2000, with an 86% rise to GB[pound] 882mn in UK new business premiums. The UK-based insurance group's figures demonstrate its strategy of focusing on new business in 1999.

UK: BOOST FOR SUN LIFE POLICYHOLDERS

Article Abstract:

Sun Life of Canada will demutualise, leading to the distribution of over 400mn shares among with-profits policyholders in the UK. The insurance group says that the move will give it the cash to undertake acquisitions. Sun Life's move will lead to payouts of GB[pound] 2,800 on average for 250,000 UK policyholders.
