The care and feeding of your PC

Article Abstract:

The working life of a PC can be increased by following 38 tips for set-up, safekeeping, cleaning, and maintenance. When setting up a PC, all warranty cards should be filled out and sent in, original packing materials should be kept, and all software should be backed-up. The PC should be installed in an area aware from foot traffic, kept in one location, and placed on a sturdy table or desk. The user should keep food and beverages away from the PC, should have clean hands before operating the PC, and should not smoke in the vicinity of the PC. The PC should not share power lines with other equipment as voltage variations may arise. The user should ground out static by using antistatic floor mats and antistatic sprays. All data should be backed up often to prevent irreplaceable losses.
