Wake up, Mr Straw. You're continuing the tradition of racist immigration laws

Article Abstract:

Home Secretary Jack Straw must recognize that racist immigration laws are preventing the UK acting as an international model of equality. If the UK is to operate successfully in a truly open, global marketplace, it should seek to attract talented immigrants, not try to keep them away. Successive governments have called for tougher immigration controls on the basis that such controls are important for race relations, but there is no evidence that such controls have improved race relations. Government ministers who assume that all Britons are opposed to immigration are insulting their humanity.
