Longbridge Muir has been voted the Most Boring Place In Britain by listeners to John Peel's Radio 4 programme 'Home Truths.' This is bogland, and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest forming part of Lochar Moss, the second largest area of raised bogland in Scotland.

What happens when public morality meets an unethical personal policy

Article Abstract:

Some UK politicians seem to survive potentially damaging revelations about their private lives relatively unscathed, while others are forced to resign, bringing their political career to an abrupt end. It seems that there is no consistent pattern in the interaction between sex and politics. An individual politician's fate is generally determined by factors other than the main issue. These include whether the individual concerned has influential friends.

Exploding the stereotype

Article Abstract:

Recent racially-motivated bomb attacks in London, England, have highlighted the position of Muslim communities in the UK. Some observers believe that these attacks have had a negative impact on the growing self-confidence of Muslim communities, which had begun to feel that their views were being taken seriously. However, Muslim leaders continue to emphasize positive developments, including the rejection of uneducated imams imported to the UK from rural areas of Bangladesh and Pakistan.
