Why do these decent folk find it so difficult to support the war?

Article Abstract:

Ordinary Serbs really do not want to know the reality of what is taking place in Kosovo, Yugoslavia. Indeed, Serb public opinion will never assist in putting an end to the slaughter in Kosovo. Those who oppose Nato action to protect the ethnic Albanians in Kosovo argue that ordinary Serbs are being convinced by the racist and nationalist tone of their own media and government. They also claim that Nato action has prompted Serbian ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. In fact, it is now clear that it will not be possible to establish Kosovar autonomy within a Yugoslav state and that some form of Kosovar entity will have to be protected.

It is unusual for men to have a forum in which to discuss their feelings, unlike women, who are able to analyze in detail the reasons for a particular form of behaviour. It is now time to recognize that the inability to express feelings could have a negative impact on men's lives. Male re-connection must largely take place within the family. Those seeking to explain men's behaviour must begin by asking men themselves why they behave as they do.
