You can keep your ethical stance in your portfolio

Article Abstract:

Ethical unit trusts available in the UK have shown strong performance. However, investors should be aware that there can be significant variations in the performance of individual trusts. They should also consider ethical share portfolio facilities now being offered by some stockbrokers and independent financial advisers. Ethical unit trusts usually carry annual management charges of between 1% and 1.5%, with minimum initial investments ranging between 500 pounds sterling and 1,000 pounds sterling.

Let your conscience be your financial guide

Article Abstract:

Investors are becoming increasingly attracted to ethical and ecological funds. However, it is important to be aware that funds in this sector differ considerably in terms of size, investment remit and management policy. There is no single approach to asset allocation in the ethical and ecological sector, and investment in this sector should be made over the medium to long term. It is important to undertake research before selecting an ethical or ecological fund.

So you want a pension with a conscience?

Article Abstract:

Those seeking an ethical approach to saving for retirement may encounter considerable difficulties. Only a very small proportion of company pension schemes in the UK are managed on the basis of clearly-defined ethics. Indeed, many scheme members are accumulating pension provision partly from investments that they would not otherwise choose for ethical reasons. It is much easier to invest into ethical funds through retail pension products.
