You like it, you buy it but how do you pay?

Article Abstract:

Concerns about the security of financial transactions are currently hampering the expansion of online shopping. However, Internet service providers and those working on 'browser' software for the World Wide Web are looking at ways of overcoming these problems. Some systems use various devices to ensure that the purchaser's credit card number is kept off the Net, while others require telephone confirmation of a transaction as added security. Service provider Easynet has developed a system based around the Hall of Commerce, an intermediary institution which acts as an authorising agency.

Tedious? That's the way we like it

Article Abstract:

The small town of Frinton, situated almost 65 miles from London on the East Anglian coast, has mainly elderly residents, and few signs of modern developments. Its residents support the values of peace and discretion, and there are many by-laws prohibiting things such as selling food on the seafront, picnics on the greensward and hanging washing out on a Sunday afternoon. There is a strong feeling that the town should remain clean and tranquil.
