Your date sir? The girl with the dark hair...

Article Abstract:

Introduction agency Only Lunch specializes in bringing busy career men and women together. It has attracted considerable interest, and now has 500 clients. It emphasizes that it hand-matches clients, rather than using computers or questionnaires, and that clients are introduced through lunch appointments, rather than evening meetings. Clients pay 560 pounds sterling a year, and in return are guaranteed at least eight dates. Only Lunch books the restaurant, while the cost of the meal is divided equally between the clients.

Mrs Lacks lives forever

Article Abstract:

Scientists across the world have made extensive use of the cells of Henriette Lacks, who died of cervical cancer in Oct 1951, in a number of different projects. It was noticed almost immediately that her cancer was extremely unusual, as it grew much more rapidly than other cancers. Her cells were collected both before and after her death, and have been used in projects including investigating a possible viral cause for cancer. Her family have only recently learned about the use of her cells.

Shopping the dark

Article Abstract:

Blind shoppers who have to rely on being accompanied by shop assistants often find that they are treated insensitively. Many blind people now have access to advanced technology, but when they try to go shopping they find that even braille labels are rare. It is hard even to get to the shops, as travelling by public transport can be extremely hazardous for an unaccompanied blind person.
