A World With Two Suns

Article Abstract:

A planet orbiting two stars at once has been discovered by an international team of astronomers. The Microlensing Planet Search collaboration described the twinkling star near the center of our galaxy. Confirmation by other observers will herald a new and powerful method of finding planets. The extrasolar planets have been found because they tug their parent stars back and forth to create a oscillating signal in the starlight.

Inorganic sensing using organofucntional sol-gel materials

Article Abstract:

The recent research in the development and applications of sol-gel sensors for concentrated strong acids and bases and metal ions is described. Sol-gels can be specifically designed to meet a variety of needs in the synthetic processes and through the grafting and entrapping of molecules these substrates can be modified to show specificity for analytes of interest.
