Pests overwhelm Bt cotton crop

Article Abstract:

Cotton bollworms are infesting cotton crops that have been bioengineered to produce their own pesticide. The cotton seed contains genes from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), a bacterium. Some environmentalists believe that the insects will become resistant to Bt.

Deformed frogs leap into spotlight at health workshop

Article Abstract:

A National Institute of Environmental Health Workshop explored the possible causes for the malformations found in frogs since 1995. Competing theories include a parasite, environmental contamination and ultraviolet radiation.
