A face-lift for Lincoln

Article Abstract:

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey aimed to minimize traffic disruption during the New York-New Jersey Linclon Tower restoration project. The project involved the reconstruction of the north tube's ceiling, roadway and all its other components. The Port Authority installed a stainless steel ceiling at the north tube's New York entrance to prevent overheight vehicles from damaging its concrete ceiling slab. The agency also modified the delaminated roadway slab by placing a waterproofing membrane and an asphalt pavement wearing course, thus facilitating construction and reducing costs.

A new face for the endosplamic reticulum: RNA localization

Article Abstract:

Assymetry of the vertebrate body is established in early oogenesis, when messenger-RNA molecules situate in specific oocyte regions. The mRNA that encodes growth factor Vg1 localizes to the vegetal pole in the Xenopus oocyte by associating with a specialized region of the endoplasmic reticulum.
