A phenomenological model for intergranular failure by r-type and wedge-type cavitation

Article Abstract:

Intergranular failure equations simulate important phenomena in life-cycle predictions for high-temperature structures and analyze monotonic creep ruptures. The equations examining the r-type and wedge-type cavitation damage and failure are derived by using the concepts of thermal activation of the controlling processes, with wedge cracking driven by grain boundary sliding and the cavity growth being driven by diffusion. A combination of the cavitation equations and a ligament model for crack development is used to make a model for creek crack growth by cavitation.

Elastic anisotropy effect of crystals on polycrystal fatigue crack initiation

Article Abstract:

A study analyzes the impact of elastic anisotropy on polycrystal fatigue crack initiation using Eshelby's equivalent inclusion model. The study uses a set of eigenstrains characterized in terms of the applied stresses and the plastic strains. Estimates of the plastic strain distributions and the total surface plastic stresses in the fatigue band depend on number of loading cycles. The impact of elastic anisotropy on the development of extrusions and intrusions are discussed. Polycrystalline Ni3Al is the sample analyzed.

A numerical study of cavitation and yield in amorphous polymer-rubber blends

Article Abstract:

The cavitation and yield in amorphous polymer-rubber blends is considered through a model using an initially voided rubber particle, described by a non-Gaussian rubber elasticity model. A detailed view on void growth together with progressive plastic deformation in the matrix is reported. The particle behaved as a void at below a certain value of the rubber modules.
