A tool for all seasons

Article Abstract:

The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is comparable to the microscope in the sense that both have widened the possibilities in the field of biology. The PCR facilitates the production of billions of copies of DNA when only small samples are available for study. PCRs have been used in studies of gene expression, genetic diseases, gene mapping and many others. These far ranging applications clearly demonstrate the important role that technology plays in scientific advancement.
