Air and surface chlorpyrifos residues following residential broadcast and aerosol pesticide applications

Article Abstract:

Deposition following broadcast (Dursban) and total release (K-RID) chlorpyrifos applications for flea control in four dormitory rooms was 63% higher than expected. The study measured ambient air at three different heights and surface chlorpyrifos residues for seven days at four unoccupied college dormitory rooms with identical dimensions (4.8 x 3.4 x 2.7 m). For 30 minutes, all rooms were ventilated with forced air immediately following applications. The research found out that forced air ventilation cut air concentrations only transiently in the broadcast room, and subsequent ambient air ventilation had little effect.

Manganese dioxide as a catalyst for oxygen-independent atrazine dealkylation

Article Abstract:

The reactivity of the herbicide atrazine with soil minerals is an important issue because of the herbicide's prevalence in the environment. The present study of atrazine degradation was accomplished using the surface of synthetic hydrous (10% H2O) delta-MnO2 (birnessite) using UV resonance Raman spectroscopy and gas chromatography.
