Alkoxy radical isomerization products from the gas-phase OH radical-initiated reactions of 2,4-dimethyl-2-pentanol and 3, 5-dimethyl-3-hexanol

Article Abstract:

The products of the gas-phase OH-radical reactions with 2,4-dimethyl-2-pentanol and 3,5-dimethyl-3-hexanol in the presence of NO(sub x) were determined to evaluate the occurrence and importance of alkoxy radical isomerization. Various reaction products were identified which prove the occurrence of alkoxy radical isomerization reaction through a 1,5-H shift at room temperature.

OH radical production from the gas-phase reactions of O3 with a series of alkenes under atmospheric conditions

Article Abstract:

A study has examined the formation of hydroxyl radicals in reactions of ozone with alkenes at atmospheric pressure and room temperature. Research aimed to extend knowledge of the chemical reaction process and products formed in air pollution. Results indicate that ozone will react with anthropogenic and biogenic alkenes to form hydroxyl radicals at night.

Products of the gas-phase reactions of O3 with alkenes

Article Abstract:

The formation yields of OH radicals from the gas-phase reactions of O3 with different alkenes were investigated using gas chromatography and in situ Fourier transform infrared absorption spectroscopy. Cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol were obsrved as products when cyclohexane was present, thus indicating the formation of OH radicals from O3 reactions.
