Antarctic meltdown: polar vision: two scientific camps disagree on how quickly the southern ice cap could melt

Article Abstract:

The discovery of 3-million-year-old fossils in Antarctica has convinced one group of scientists that the southern ice cap could melt again, raising the world's ocean level. Another group retains the accepted believe that the ice cap has been stable for 10 to 15 million years, and will remain so.

The electric eye: a light-sensitive chip grafted to the human retina promises rudimentary vision for some people who cannot see

Article Abstract:

The implanting of a light-sensitive chip in the eye may help restore partial vision to those suffering from conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa or a detached retina. So far, the research has met with limited success, but the prospects are encouraging.
