Apple's latest offerings

Article Abstract:

Apple Computer has entered the computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD-CAM) world with a vengeance. The new Microstation Mac from Intergraph is powerful enough to support regular workstation features and 3-D graphics, and other companies are taking advantage with multi axis drafting and machining software. QuickSurf from Patrick Thorn, Alias Research's Sketch! Version 1.5 and Ashlar's Vellum 3-D and Drafting Assistant are among the offerings.

Managing the data explosion

Article Abstract:

Water quality data management systems are being tested to their limits with automatic samplers and electronic sensors that take in an overload of data. The data overload is making data analysis more difficult. Data management systems must then include features that can be adapted to these problems. The US Geological Survey developed custom features to a database management program developed by Acius Inc, in Cupertino, CA.
