Asymptotic approach to the Hill model of spread in rolling

Article Abstract:

A simple asymptotic method for solving the Hill model of spread employs a perturbation expansion to yield simple analytical solutions in cases where the strip width exceeds the roll-gap length. The asymptotic method eliminates the problems associated with solving complex, nonlinear, fourth-order differential equation. The solution helps understand the correlation between roll gap parameters and spread and the assumptions incorporated during the derivation of the solution.

Behavior of nonhomogenous materials subjected to bearing load

Article Abstract:

The behavior of homogenous and nonhomogenous materials with linearly varying property subjected to line loading is investigated using the optical method of coherent gradient sensing. Results suggest structural superiority of materials loaded on the stiff side of the material gradient due to the fact that this loading configuration attenuates stress concentration effects.

A simplified approach to estimate limiting drawing ratio and maximum drawing load in cup drawing

Article Abstract:

A new and practically applicable equation is developed for estimating the limited drawing ratio (LDR) in cup drawing. These new equations allow better understanding and control of the drawing limit of sheet metal in industry necessity.
