Atomic parity violation and the nuclear anapole moment

Article Abstract:

C S Wood and colleagues at the Univ of Colorado have achieved the first definitive measurement of an anapole moment, the transition to parity violation, in cesium atoms. The measurements seem precise enough to test the standard electroweak model of physics.

Has Japan begun to move toward atomic level material processing?

Article Abstract:

A move toward atomic level material processing is a natural progression of Japanese microelectronics. Atomic level research has two objectives: to build novel nanometer-scale electronic devices and to do basic research on new micromaterials.

Clusters whip light atomic nuclei into shape

Article Abstract:

The nuclei of light elements at high energies seem to be formed by clusters of nucleons orbiting other clusters. Scientists are applying this cluster model to atomic systems to study electronic behavior.
