Bending to bar codes

Article Abstract:

Paul D.N. Hebert, who holds the Canada Research Chair in Molecular Biodiversity, proposed a new ID system called the DNA bar codes, sidestepping the taxonomic legwork. A large number of taxonomists have condemned this system stating that it will undermine the purposely elaborate systems developed to ensure ID precision and accuracy.
