Carbon Sequestration in Soils

Article Abstract:

The sequestration of carbon dioxide in soil organic matter may play a role in carbon emissions into the atmosphere. Such emissions are incurred in the manufacture, transport, and application of fertilizer. Also, irrigation can be associated with large carbon dioxide emissions. These facts should be accounted for in discussions of the Protocol to the Convention on Climate Change, or the Kyoto Protocol.

Carbon Nanotube Muscles

Article Abstract:

The use of nanotubes for electromechanical actuators is explored. Researchers have measured the linear strain caused by electrochemical operation of the nanotubes, and found that the tube expands by about 1% along its entire length. The study of electrochemical actuators is receiving lots of attention from scientists.
