Characterization of fatigue damage modes in Nicalon/calcium aluminosilicate composites

Article Abstract:

High-cycle fatigue behavior of Nicalson fiber-reinforced calcium aluminosilicate (CAS) glass-ceramic matrix composites was investigated with the help of nondestructive evaluation (NDE) technique. The NDE technique and the SEM characterization were used to facilitate a better understanding of damage evolution and progress of Nicalon/CAS composites during high-cycle fatigue.

Effects of local grain orientation on fatigue crack growth in multicrystalline fcc metallic materials

Article Abstract:

The applications of damage tolerance methods to high cycle fatigue (HCF) is hindered by the anomalous behavior of microstructurally short cracks that control fatigue life. The influence of changes on slip geometry as cracks moved across grain boundaries is discussed.

The effect of tool-sheet interaction on damage evolution in electromagnetic forming of aluminum alloy sheet

Article Abstract:

A study of the effect of tool-sheet interaction on damage evolution in electromagnetic forming is presented. Metallographic analysis was carried out to quantify damage in the parts and to confirm the numerical results.
