Collaborative CAD: the Internet is revolutionising the way engineering teams can work together

Article Abstract:

The increasing usage of the Internet in the supply chain is prompting CAD companies to offer sophisticated products to allow engineers in remote locations to work together while designing and developing projects. Among CAD suppliers offering new systems is CoCreate Software, a Hewlett-Packard subsidiary, which has enhanced its OneSpace software to include new native adapters for different CAD packages. OneSpace 4.0 allows team members outside the company, including customers and suppliers, to collaborate in realtime using different CAD systems.

On guard

Article Abstract:

Phasa Developments installs Guardmaster's Trojan 5 safety interlock switch into its non-contact, hot air staking machines to ensure operator safety and minimize costs. The switch is well-suited for applications requiring dual safety contacts and guard position indicators with its two safety closed contacts and single auxiliary contact. The flexible design of the switch also enabled Phasa to standardize the switch for all its machines to reduce production costs.

Looking to the future

Article Abstract:

The Architect laser 3D imaging and modeling system can accurately reproduce images and models of structures. The system was designed for the nuclear and chemical industries whose facilities have complex piping systems and vessels. The system features a mobile laser scanner which captures images and then downloads these to a computer with a graphics package. The system is also compatible with over 60 CAD systems.
