The disaster of the Chernobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine released a plume that dropped radioactive particles throughout the Northern Hemisphere reporting 4,000 deaths, derived from a 2005 United Nations press release. A controversy revealing the disagreements in the way the figures should be calculated and over the cancer toll is debated.
