Leaf hydraulics

Article Abstract:

The way in which leaf structure and physiology affect K(sub leaf) and the mechanism by which K(sub leaf) contributes to dynamic functional responses at the level of individual leaves and the whole plant is described. It was seen that K(sub leaf) plays a very important role in determining ecological preferences among species and plant resource responses.

New insights to the function of phytopathogenic bacterial type III effectors in plants

Article Abstract:

New studies dissecting the molecular and biochemical action of type-III secretion system (TTSS) effectors show that these proteins contribute to bacterial pathogenicity by interfering with plant defense signal transduction. The investigations indicate how bacteria manipulate plant physiology to colonize their hosts.

Chlorophyll degradation during senescence

Article Abstract:

Advances in the biochemical reactions of the pathway and description of the characterization of new nonfluorescent chlorophyll (Chl) catabolite and their formation inside the vacuole are summarized. The analysis of Chl catabolic mutants demonstrates the importance of Chl breakdown for plant development and survival.
