French road rehab product comes to America

Article Abstract:

The state departments of transportation of Texas, Alabama and Mississippi have started conducting tests of Novachip, a road rehabilitation/preventive maintenance product from France. Texas will examine the road system's cost-effectiveness and capacity to improve skid resistance and slightly damaged road profiles. Alabama will observe how the system will fare during the summer when road temperature peaks. Meanwhile, Mississippi willcompare Novachip's performance and cost-effectiveness with that of a hot mix asphalt service course. The states will monitor the product for about two to five years.

Lightweight grout eases sewer rehab

Article Abstract:

A new lightweight grout, LDB 662, has made sewer repair projects easier to manage. Its advantages include the elimination of flotation problems and the prevention of more grouting. The required pressure to pump the grout was also enough to collapse slip-lining pipes. LDB 662 is manufactured by Pacific International Grout Co, Bellingham, WA. It was used in Casper, WY, for sewer system repairs and the engineers were satisfied with its performance.
