Defects in aluminum windows and impact on dust and air infiltration

Article Abstract:

Visualinspection was performed to determine the air infiltration rate for aluminum windows installed in commercial and residential buildings in Kuwait. It was observed that double sliding windows leaked from the corners and gaps above thesash, while leaks for vertical-hinge windows came from the joint between the sash and the frame. These leakages were attributed to the design, fabrication, installation and maintenance defects. Minor repairs on these windows were foundto decrease air leakage by 10%-30%.

Biogeochemical processes during the infiltration of river water into an alluvial aquifer

Article Abstract:

A field investigation was conducted during the infiltration of surface water from the Lot river into an alluvial aquifer through river bank sediments. This was done in order to identify the hydrogeochemical processes involved. Chloride was used as the indicator of the river and groundwater's physical mixing. Results show the degree of chemical changes associated with the occurring physical dilution.
