Driving away scrap

Article Abstract:

Car manufacturers throughout continental Europe may become fully responsible for the disposal and recycling of vehicles when they are scrapped, if draft legislation is brought in. Vehicle manufacturers are already improving on the 75% recyclability of their products to inclue additional responsibility for the draining and containing of fluids. Plastics, representing 12% of content, are the most problematical as different grades cannot be processed together. Also secondary applications for recycling plastics have to be found.
