Effect of gaseous inhibitors on PCDD/F formation

Article Abstract:

The extreme toxicity of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs) emissions from municipal waste incinerator may be greatly reduced by the addition of gaseous inhibitors. Particle phase PCDD/F concentrations have been found to be greatly reduced by the addition of sulfur dioxide, ammonia, dimethylamine and methyl mercaptan. Concentration reductions of 98% suggest that the inhibitors react at the early stages of the PCDD/F formation chain even before chlorophenols, one of its know precursors, are formed.

Chlorophenols as precursors of PCDD/Fx in incineration processes: correlations, PLS modeling, and reaction mechanisms

Article Abstract:

Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs) are two hazardous emissons of municipal waste incineration. In this study, the correlated between TEQ-related PCDD/Fs and chlorophenols was researched. The article is broken down into an introduction, a discussion of the experiment, and a discussion of the results.
