Effective elastic constants of superlattice films measured by line-focus acoustic microscopy

Article Abstract:

Determination of the effective elastic constants of nitride single-crystal superlattice films involves the use of line-focus acoustic microscopy (LFAM). The calculation estimates the elastic constants of the constituent layers of the film. A comparison with the surface acoustic wave (SAW) velocities establishes the accuracy of LFAM results. The method is suitable for films with flat and sharp inter-layer interfaces and for films with rough interfaces with interdiffusion.

Transmission and polarization of elastic waves in irregular structures

Article Abstract:

An analytical method that allows evaluating the transmission and reflection matrices characterizing the structure, and analyzing the effect of variation in porosity across the stack on the transmittance diagram, is presented. The study concluded that such layered structures can be used as low-pass and band-pass filters for elastic waves, and their band-rejecting characteristics can be adjusted by varying the cylinder radius and spacing between the gratings.

Imperfect interfaces and discrete lattice structures

Article Abstract:

A model where a lattice is used within an interface layer of finite thickness is proposed. This model requires a combination of a system of nonlocal equations for the exterior elastic bodies and a lattice model for a finite thickness nonlinear lattice structure within the interface.
