Environmental and technological innovation

Article Abstract:

Many environmentalists believe that technological change has been the major factor in harming the environment. However, technological change actually helps the environment because a lack of technological innovation causes unnecessary pollution, as seen by the situation in developing countries. Industrialized nations are better equipped than less technologically advanced countries to improve environmental quality. Market incentives and the publication of industrial emissions reports can help to promote technological innovation and pollution control.

Environmental priorities

Article Abstract:

The Resources for the Future conference held in Annapolis, MD discussed the potential advantages and disadvantages offered by comparative risk assessment. Those who are against comparative risk assessment argued that the total elimination of environmental problems would render it useless as there will be no more need for a priority program. On the other hand, advocates of the risk assessmentr method pointed out that setting priorities would still be necessary in other environmental programs such as pollution prevention and nuclear waste management.
