First 'Green' residential high-rise completed in New York

Article Abstract:

This article describes the first ever apartment building, Solaire, in New york, which is certified by the U.S. Green Building Council for its innovative incorporation of an independent wastewater system and solar array for electricity in the bulding plan. The building materials are mostly recycled materials.

Effluent recycling plant expands to provide boiler feedwater to Chevron refinery

Article Abstract:

This article reports on the West Basin Municipal Water District's plans to expand its Hyperion wastewater treatment plant's capacity to process industrial effluents. The project uses microfiltration and reverse osmosis technology and is environmentally safe.

An evaluation is presented on high-performance steel and its specifications for use in bridge construction. Structural systems include tublular flanges and corrugated and flat web plates, which can reduce the amount of steel needed for girders by 25%.
