Flood of new isotopes offers keys to stellar evolution

Article Abstract:

Researchers at GSI, a heavy-ion accelerator laboratory in Darmstadt, Germany, used projectile fragmentation to identify over 100 new isotopes in two runs. This research could help scientists confirm theories on the production and distribution of heavy elements by supernovae.

Impact of DNA replication errors put to the test

Article Abstract:

A team of Austrian scientists will test a theoretical model of the way DNA synthesis disseminates mutations unevenly through a population. The model was developed by molecular biologist Mitsuru Furusawa and embryologist Hirofumi Doi.
