Footprints to fill: Flat feet and doubts about makers of the Laetoli tracks

Article Abstract:

One of the most remindful traces of humanity's ancestors found is a trail of footprints pressed into new fallen volcanic ash around 3.6 million years ago, which is now known as Laetoli, Tanzania. Experts have generally agreed that the tracks belong to members of the species Australopithecus afarensis, the hominid most famously represented by the Lucy fossil.

Ancestral quandary: neanderthals not our ancestors? Not so fast

Article Abstract:

The debate on humans evolving from neanderthals remains as the findings of the 'Cell' paper may be interpreted in a different manner. Some find that there is too much mutation in neanderthal DNA to be human while others maintain that there is also a wide variety of DNA mutation among chimps.

Fighting the darkness in El Dorado

Anthropologist Chagnon responds to charges made in the book "Darkness in El Dorado by journalist Patrick Tierney. Tierney claims in the book that Chagnon's studies of the Yanomamo culture were exaggerated, he incited violence and sparked a measles epidemic.
